Top 5 Lip Moisturizers
It is that time of year again when the bitter cold creeps up on you and out of no where you have a constant need to reapply lip balm/chapstick. No one likes chapped (non-kissable) lips. Personally for me I have always been a fanatic when it comes to lip moisturizers. How some people can not go without a watch or earrings, I cannot go without my lip moisturizer.
You want to get a moisturizer that will work best for you and your goals. Always get a moisturizer/balm with SPF in it, it is necessary even during the winter time. Most lip moisturizers these days are made with SPF, so they should not be difficult to find. I know some people do not like the waxy feel that you get with the more original chapstick brands, but that semi-waxy feel is what holds the moisture in your lips. I usually go with the semi-waxy and petroleum jelly consistency. Although they may be light I do not care for the oily types. You can find no-oily types that are light on your lips.
To start off my top brand would have to be Nivea at the present. I prefer the stick in the "A Kiss of" line. I haven't tried all the different scent/flavors, but so far my favorites are A Kiss of Mint&Minerals, Smoothness, and Milk&Honey. I would like to try the berry swirl and vitamin swirl. If you don't mind the stick/wax kind I think this is a great choice. Reapplication is minimal, light on lips, packaging is nice, and great variety to choose from.
If you are looking to soften, moisturize, or repair your lips another good brand is Vaseline. You can never go wrong with good old fashion petroleum jelly... It's not sticky, waxy, and gets the job done in a short amount of time. The original and cocoa butter are my favorite, but the cherry and advanced are good too. The original comes in the cutest little package (mini size of the regular container of Vaseline). I know for some people they do not like using their fingers, but as long as you are clean and clean your hands before you use your product all should be well. If you prefer hands free/ sharing application then go with squeeze tube applicator.
I must say when they first came out I bought the peppermint and did not like it very much. It seemed oily and slick. Everyone else has been raving and going mad over....you guessed it.....Maybelline's "Baby Lips", but I just didn't get the hype. Well it sat in a drawer for quite some time, my niece even got a hold of it once and I guess she liked the taste...lol! Recently, I had gotten dehydrated and my lips were in recovery mode. Seemed like they just stayed chapped. I found myself unable to find any of my usual...so what did I do...reach for the baby lips of course. I was pleasantly surprised. My lips were softer after just one application and I could tell the difference. Feel like my lips are back to normal and getting softer. So I take back my bad review and have now joined the Baby Lips bandwagon.

One of my favorite, favorite lip moisturizers is by Neutrogena called moisture shine lip soother. It's more of a gloss with SPF, hydra-cooling gel, and comes in a variety. I use to use it all the time in high school, and for what ever random reason stopped. I picked it back up recently and fell in love again. Looking for a moisturizing, SPF, and glossy finish this is a perfect fit. Before I would apply chapstick and then gloss...and this is a all-in-one kinda deal.
Last, but never least is VS(Victoria's Secret) Beauty Rush lip balm. I love this stuff! I've used it for years...I remember at one point they actually no longer where available but lucky me I had stocked up during this minor drought. Lucky for everyone they brought it back. It comes in a cute little tin in shades of pink with a minty refreshing flavor. Who doesn't love a good minty moisturizing gloss and cute packaging.
This concludes my top 5 favorite lip moisturizers. Keep those lips moisturized and hydrated. Also, at the end of the day things work from the inside out so drink plenty of water to keep you skin hydrated. The cold weather is not quite over, and anyone who lives in a state like Oklahoma you may have sunny skies one day and snow/precipitation the next. Hope you all enjoyed and thank you for visiting my blog!!!
